LST Week 2008

If you missed LST Week 2007 you missed the LST party of a lifetime!
LST Week 2008 will be even bigger and better. Check out the itinerary:



Wednesday, Sept. 24

  • Tour LST – 10 a.m. till 4 p.m.
  • Higgins boat rides on Ohio River – 10 a.m. till 3 p.m.
  • Captain’s LST Memorial Members Reception on LST – 5 p. m. till 6:30 p.m. (Must be a USS LST Ship Memorial member to attend)

Thursday, Sept. 25

  • Take a thrilling ride on WW II warship LST 325 – The LST will take three cruises on the scenic Ohio River –at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and at noon
  • Coast Guard limits the LST to 149 passengers per cruise. First 447 people who register for LST Week 2008 will be eligible to go on one of these cruises.
  • Thursday evening is free to dine and socialized at any of the many fine Evansville restaurants. Information on area dining will be supplied upon check-in.

Friday, Sept. 26

  • NEW THIS YEAR:  Visit Historic Vincennes, Indiana – take a deluxe bus ride to historic Vincennes, Indiana. Vincennes is one of the oldest towns in Indiana. Founded in 1732, Vincennes is a one hour bus ride from Evansville. We’ll  tour the Indiana Military Museum, eat lunch, then visit the George Rogers Clark National Historic Park (the park is the site of the largest national monument outside of Washington, D.C.). (those who travel to Vincennes will be back to Evansville in plenty of time for Friday’s LST Week Banquet)
  • Higgins boat rides on Ohio River – 10 a.m. till 3 p.m.

  • 7 p.m. at The Centre, located across the street from the Executive Inn

Saturday, Sept. 27

  • Military Vehicle Preservation Association  vehicle display at Marina Pointe – 8 a.m. till 2 p.m.
  • Memorial Ceremony for departed comrades and all those fallen in battle – 10 a.m. on LST
  • Higgins boat rides on Ohio River – after memorial ceremony till 3 p.m.
  • Ladies Shopping Trip to Eastland Mall (bus from Executive Inn) – 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. – eat lunch at the mall
  • LST/Amphib Open Meeting – 3 p.m. at the Executive Inn  -- purpose of this meeting is to discuss the future of the LST/Amphib national community – everyone is welcome
  • LST Big Band Dance – dance and/or listen to the music of the Temple-airs with music from Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, all your favorites from the 40s – 7 p.m. at the Executive Inn

Specially priced ($20) airplane rides over Evansville and the LST are available each day.



To take part in LST Week 2008, you do not have to attend all five days; you can pick and choose your days.
Those planning on taking part in all of the events should arrive in Evansville on Tuesday, Sept. 23rd - Check-out day is
Sun. Sept. 28th.
